    New 2-phenoxy propionic acid derivatives of pentite are disclosed, of the general Formula <IMAGE> I in which one of the substituents Y is the group <IMAGE> and pairs of other substituents Y are the group <IMAGE> wherein Z is phenyl, 2-pyridyl, or 2-quinoxalinyl, or phenyl, 2-pyridyl or 2-quinoxalinyl substituted one or more times the same or differently by halogen, C1-C6-alkoxy, C1-C6-alkyl, nitro or trifluoromethyl and R1 and R2 are the same or different and are each hydrogen, C1-C10-alkyl, C1-C10-alkyl substituted one or more times the same or differently by halogen, C1-C6-alkoxy, phenoxy or halogen phenoxy, aryl-C1-C3-alkyl, aryl-C1-C3-alkyl substituted one or more times the same or differently by C1-C6-alkyl, halogen, C1-C6-alkoxy, nitro or trifluoromethyl, C3-C6-cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon, aromatic hydrocarbon or aromatic hydrocarbon substituted one or more times the same or differently by C1-C6-alkyl, halogen, C1-C6-alkoxy, nitro or trifluoromethyl, or R1 and R2 together with the C-atom to which they are both bonded are a C3-C8-cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon, along with processes for the production of these compounds as well as compositions containing the same and having herbicidal effectiveness.

    The seeds of the experimental plants were sown in prepared soil in special vessels and the soil was treated with a herbicidal agent until germination.
    Experimental plants grown under greenhouse conditions to a certain stage of growth should be treated with a herbicidal agent (post emergence).
    For direct use, the herbicidal agent was diluted with water at the rate of 500 l / ha and thus a working emulsion was obtained.
    Evaluation of herbicidal activity was performed 3 weeks after treatment.
    Table 1 presents the results of J. pre-emergence and post-emergence application of 5-0 - ((5-trifluoromethyl-pyridyl-2-hydroxy) -phenoxy propynyl} -1,2: 3,4-bis-O (isopropylidene) xylitol in a dose of 5 kg / ha (assessment of herbicidal activity 5 was carried out, on a scale from 0 to 4 points: O - no damage; 4 - the death of plants is full).
    Table 2 presents the results of the post-emergence application of the proposed herbicidal agent containing compounds 1 and 11 as active substances and the known herbicidal agent at a dose of active substances of 0.1 kg / ha. Evaluation of herbicidal activity was carried out on a scale from 0 to 10 points: O - the death of plants is full; 10 - no damage.
